Season Series: Pittsburgh 1-1-1…is that right? God I hate the NHL scoring system. Whatever, Pittsburgh won twice, one of which was in overtime. So I guess it’s Pittsburgh 2-1-0, Edmonton 1-1-1. #GetRidOfTheLoserPoint
Forwards
Pittsburgh is healthy and has a lot of depth up front to complement star power. Look for Michigan-born Domer Bryan Rust to make an impact, for no other reason than personal bias. Montreal on the other hand went 0-4 against the 2019-2020 Detroit Red Wings. Edge: Penguins
Defensemen
I try not to judge a book by its cover, but I really don’t think I would like Kris Letang even if I got to know him. I could say the same thing of Shea Weber, who once, while playing for the Nashville Predators, grabbed good guy Henrik Zetterberg’s head like a watermelon and tried to smash it Gallagher style against the glass. Unfortunately for the Habs, Jeff Petry (who did not attend the University of Notre Dame) doesn’t get the same Michigan-born bias benefit of the doubt because his team went 0-4 against the 2019-2020 Detroit Red Wings. Edge: Pittsburgh
Goaltending
I don’t know who is starting for Pittsburgh, but Matt Murray has won two Stanley Cups. Carey Price, when on his game, can without a doubt steal this series for Montreal. But Price went 0-3 against the 2019-2020 Detroit Red Wings. Edge: Penguins
Coaching
I love both these coaches, but only one went 0-4…you get it. Edge: Penguins
Prediction
I just don’t see a team that went 0-4 against the 2019-2020 Detroit Red Wings beating the 7th overall team in the league, particularly when the 7th best team is captained by Sidney Crosby. Penguins in 3
